REGULATORY UPDATE - NASDAQ APPLICATION - RELEASE NUMBER 34-44625
The Securities and Exchange Commission has issued an order extending the comment period on the Nasdaq Stock Market's application to register as a national securities exchange (release number 34-44625). The deadline, originally July 30, will now be August 29.
In a letter to the SEC, the Securities Industry Association had asked that the comment period be extended until October 31 due to the extreme length of the filing. SIA also sought the delay to enable member-firms to review plans for the future operation of a quotation and transaction reporting facility for those NASD members that transact business in the residual over-the-counter market; these plans have not yet been filed with the SEC.
